For the Hongjiadu CFRD with the height of 178.5m, numerical method and centrifuge modeling test are used for analysis the stress and deformation properties of high CFRD in narrow valley. Under the condition of unsymmetrical narrow valley, the stress and deformation distribution of the dam and the displacement of joints during dam construction and reservoir impoundment are presented from the analysis. And also, the impact of the of rockfill density variation on the stress properties of the slab is analyzed. The research results show that: the shape of river valley has significant impact on stress and deformation status of CFRD. By improving construction technology and increasing filling density, the stress and deformation properties of CFRD could be improved.

This is a case study of the stress-deformation properties of high concrete face rock-fill dam (CFRD) constructed in narrow valley using the method of numerical analysis. The arching effect of the valley and the deformation properties between rockfill and abutment and their effects on the stress-deformation properties of CFRD are studied. The creep deforma-tion behaviors of CFRD in narrow valley are also discussed. Results show that the narrow valley has significant arching effect and such CFRD has large tangential slip at perimetric joints but relatively small stress deformation. The slip between dam and abutment and the dam deformation at later stages will have significant impact on dam safety.

In this paper, the development and distributing regularity of landslides, debris flows along Qingyi River in Sichuan province, is the study object. Then, the relationship between hazards and the river geological processes is discussed. By the reflection analysis, the conceptual model of mass motion and stop of slope materials is set up. Moreover, on the basis of utilizing super entropy-theory, the assessment method of stability of the total or segment river is put forward, which provides a new way for prediction of regional geological hazards.

As the future highest dam in the world,Shuang Jiang Kou rockfill dam was the water retaining structure of homonymous hydropower station,a controlling engineering on Da Du River hydropower development,which is under design now.This dam is a central earth core dam with a height of 312 meters.A type of gravel soil stiffer than clay,which is made by artificial compounding of clay and gravel,is introduced to reduce the difference in displacement of earth core and rock filled shell zone.A three dimensional coupled nonlinear finite element analysis is carried out to study the three dimensional stressstrain behavior of Shuang Jiang Kou rockfill dam. Computation results show that the introduction of the contact high-plasticity clay layer is effective and necessary.
